‘Bracken’s Brown Beauty’ Magnolia is a large shade tree with classic southern charm. This evergreen tree has a dense canopy that matures at 30-50’ tall and up to 20’ wide. Its large, smooth, dark green leaves have a soft cinnamon-brown underside, and only drop in late spring just as new leaves appear. Stunning, 6 inch wide, creamy white flowers bloom spring to early summer and have a strong, exotic fragrance. Bracken’s Brown is known to be more cold hardy than other magnolias, and stands out with felted brown accents on its new growth, stems, and undersides of leaves. Tolerates a variety of soils, and preferring at least 6 hours of sun. Prune only if needed for shape, and soon after blooming is complete. Beautiful in any yard setting, bringing a coarse but stately texture and lots of welcoming shade. Grown here at Creekside Nursery in 5, 15, and 30 gallon containers.
