Bottlebrushes

Bottlebrushes are one of our most popular selling shrubs here at Creekside Nursery. With offerings of varieties from dwarf to tree form, we can surely fill your planting needs. The Little John (dwarf) variety is covered with the signature shaped red blooms and is a perfect fit for smaller gardens. The Hardy and Hannah Ray varieties make stunning hedges or eye-catching specimen plants. The larger shrub forms can also be shaped into tree form. Hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other pollinators flock to these showy shrubs. The blooms in the large varieties can be used in cut flower arrangements. Bottlebrushes are heat tolerant and can withstand some colder temps as well.

Ajuga Catlin's Giant

This evergreen perennial with its glossy purple-bronze leaves, will form a quick dense mat of foliage. With a center spike of tiny blue-violet flower that can reach 12" tall creates a stunning display from mid to late spring. This Ajuga makes a lovely thick ground cover in shade to part shade areas, where grass has a hard time growing. This plant tends to be rabbit and deer resistant as well as low maintenance and pest free.

Princess Caroline Fountain Grass

This ornamental grass does not usually produce blooms or plumage, but the eye-catching colored leaves are what sells it. With its brilliant, green and maroon-purple foliage, this grass stands up well to heat and humidity. Prefers full to mostly sunny locations and once fully established can withstand periods without watering. Attention-grabbing in beds and stunning when planted en masse, this variety can grow 2-3' H and 3-4' W outdoors in Zones 8-10. But can also be planted in containers and brought indoors for overwintering in cooler areas. It is considered deer resistant and does not suffer issues with most insects or diseases.

Montrose Purple Vitex

Also known as Chaste Tree, Vitex has aromatic green leaves and stunning long, narrow spikes of purple flowers that cover this plant in the summer months.These fragrant flowers attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.After blooming, narrow spikes of round, dark brown seeds are produced.Vitex grows shrub-like, but can be shaped into a tree form by trimming away the lower branches during its winter dormant period. They can achieve a mature size of 25 feet tall and wide. Handles hot summers, as well as tolerating short-term temperatures below Zero F. Hardy in Zones 6-10.

Daylilies

Daylilies are some of the most carefree of all flowering perennials. They can thrive in almost any type of soil, and are rarely troubled by insects or disease. The plants grow quickly, are long lived and historically have been shared from the gardens of family and friends across the country. Their dense root system reduces soil erosion and can choke out most weeds. Even when they’re not in bloom, the lush foliage makes a good backdrop for other flowers.
