Daylilies

Daylilies can be some of the most low-maintenance and easy care plants on the market today. Most varieties have distinct bloom periods that last 3 to 4 weeks in late spring and throughout the summer. The varieties grown here at Creekside Nursery are called "re-bloomers", meaning they will periodically re-bloom throughout the summer and fall months. Deadhead the spent blooms to discourage seed production and to encourage new buds. Considered as semi-evergreen, they are moderate to fast growers spreading via clumps and prefer full sun, but will grow in partial shade. They are attractive to pollinators, are pest resistant and are even considered edible for some of their human gardeners!

Gauras

We carry two different varieties of Gaura here at the Nursery and they are both beautiful! Cherry Brandy blooms with soft pink flowers that open from dark pink buds above a low mound of bronze-green leaves. Whirling Butterfly has delicate white blooms tinged with pink that rise above their green foliage on tall stalks. Both varieties are tough perennials that tolerate heat, humidity and some drought conditions making them a perfect plant for Texas landscapes. They do well in full sun with organic soil for taproot development. Deadhead spent flower stalks to encourage new blooms. Deer resistant, but highly attractive to butterflies, add these graceful spots of color to any long-summer landscape setting.

Mona Lavender Plectranthus

This plant provides a pleasing visual whether it is in full bloom or not. The dark glossy green leaves give a double pop of color on their own because of their dark purple undersides. Add to this the stalks of pretty tubular purple blooms that are tucked in between and above, and you’ll have a show stopping plant that also attracts pollinators. Plectranthus can thrive with minimal care and can serve as a houseplant or outdoors as a shrub-like perennial. They perform best in part sun to light shade. Trimming off stems of young plants can encourage a fuller, bushier mature plant, and deadheading old bloom stalks will encourage a more continuous bloom period. Sold here at Creekside Nursery in 2 gallon TC pots.

Angelonias

Also known as Summer Snapdragons, these eye-catching annuals feature beautiful spikes of flowers rising above the foliage from late spring to frost. A great choice for hot, sunny beds and borders, mixed in containers with a filler-and-spiller format or in an eye-catching specialty pot. Angelonias are heat and humidity tolerant, requiring little maintenance other than dead-heading spent bloom stalks to encourage more future blooms. Grows well in wet or dry soil, but don’t overwater. Varieties sold here at Creekside Nursery are Purple Improved, Angel Mist Pink and Angel Mist Bluebird in 2 gallon TC pots.
