Society Garlic

Society Garlic is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial with delicate purple flowers.  Its narrow, strappy leaves have a strong garlic smell when crushed.  Throughout the warm months, flushes of star-shaped slightly fragrant lilac purple flowers bloom on scapes that rise above the foliage.  Heat and drought tolerant, society garlic will grow in sun to partial shade, with best flowering in full sun conditions.  Growing to about 1-2 feet tall, this compact plant works well in the landscape as a small border maker, in rock gardens or mixed plantings with other perennials, as well as in containers.  Society garlic makes a great addition to an herb garden as all parts of the plant are edible and useful in cooking.  Proudly grown at Creekside Nursery in 1 gallon containers.
