Variegated Ginger

Variegated Ginger is an herbaceous perennial that brings a pop of bright, tropical interest to any landscape.  Its striking variegated yellow and green leaves bow out on arching stems as the plant grows in clumps to about 4 ft wide and 4-7 feet tall.  In spring, sweetly fragrant flowers appear in panicles of white and pink.  The blossoms resemble a shell, which is why it is also known as shell ginger.  Variegated ginger is a low-maintenance but exotic plant that thrives in heat, humidity, and partial sun, preferring moist soils and protection from extreme cold.  Use this stunning plant to bring a lush feel to any landscape, especially poolside areas or protected enclaves.  Variegated ginger also does very well in containers and indoors.  Grown at Creekside Nursery in 3 gallon containers.
