Wax Texanum Ligustrum

This variety of Ligustrum features dense glossy evergreen foliage and produces clusters of white blooms in Spring. A very popular and useful shrub for foundation planting, it is also used for hedges, screens or windbreaks. Texanums are considered very fast growing but are easily maintained and can also be pruned into topiary shapes. Ligustrums do well in full sun or partial shade and are considered drought tolerant but do best if they are watered during prolonged hot, dry spells.

Delosperma

Also commonly called Ice Plant, this African native is proven to be heat and drought tolerant while providing low-growing groundcover with succulent needle-like foliage and bright pinkish-purple flowers. The foliage is covered with transparent flakes that somewhat resemble tiny pieces of ice, hence the common name. Can handle full sun and flourishes best in Zones 5-9. Delosperma are highly attractive to bees and provide an exceptional nectar source for pollinators while bringing spots of brilliant color to open areas where other plants may not thrive.

Easter Barrel Cactus

Easter Barrel Cactus is a popular cacti that we offer in both quarts (12 per flat) and in our 2 gallon terra cotta pots. Suitable for indoor use or as a container plant and in rock gardens. Both heat and drought tolerant, they require sandy, well-drained soil for best results. This variety of cactus blooms with a beautiful display of huge, showy, light lavender-pink flowers. These plants are native to arid desert regions and usually have only rainfall to supply their moisture needs, so be sure not to overwater.

Setcreasea - Purple Heart

We carry two varieties of Setcreasea here at Creekside Nursery. Our common Purple Heart comes in a 1 gallon size and shows off its lush, dark purple foliage with dainty pink flowers that bloom in spring thru summer. The Pink Stripe variety is offered in an 18 per flat 4” pot. Both varieties will die back in cold weather, but flush back when the ground warms again. Exposure to the brightest lighting brings out the truest colors. Heat tolerant and deer resistant, they both make great plants as groundcovers, in containers and spilling out of hanging baskets.
