Bananas

Here at Creekside Nursery, we currently offer three varieties of tropical bananas. All are grown in a 3 gallon container and can thrive in Zones 8-11. The Rojo Sumatrana displays beautiful 'bloodstained' top leaves while the undersides are a deep burgundy brown. The Abbysinnian has bright green leaves with the underside spine of dark red. The Dwarf Cavendish is a large leaved plant with lush foliage that has maroon markings when young, maturing to green. This variety produces edible fruit in clusters of small yellow bananas.

Ornamental Grasses

Here at Creekside Nursery, we have an abundance of beautiful ornamental grasses. Mature sizes range from dwarf to 6+ feet tall with beautiful green, variegated or colored blades and displaying plumage colors from white to purple to pinks and cream. Planted alone as a specimen item or en masse for a show-stopping display, these grasses are sure to call attention to your landscape. Most varieties do well in Zones 5-10 and can thrive in full sun and even under some drought conditions once established. Ask us about our Maiden varieties, our Muhly varieties and different Fountain grass varieties sold in 1 and 3 gallon containers!

Variegated Ginger

Variegated Ginger, also known as "Shell Ginger" brings a pop of tropical interest to any shade garden. Displaying green and yellow striped leaves and a wide-spreading habit, these are moderately salt-tolerant plants that do best in filtered sun to part shade. The name Shell Ginger comes from the fragrant flowers that appear (infrequently) in warm weather, looking like strands of tiny white seashells. Performs best in Zones 8-10 with watering as needed to keep the soil moist. Has a mature growth habit of 4-6’ tall and 6-8’ wide. Works well beside pools and water features. Also makes a great container plant where growth can be more contained.

Oleanders

Oleanders are a hardy and popular variety of flowering shrub. They make wonderful hedge or screening plants. Once established, Oleanders are drought tolerant, heat, wind and disease resistant and very durable. The Hardy Red, Pink and Yellow varieties offer up plenty of beautiful flowers that hold their color for an extended time through the summer. Petite is a dwarf version of the Hardy variety of Oleanders. Noted for their durable heat, drought and salt tolerance, these plants are very useful in coastal locations and Xeric plantings. Their flowers bloom from spring through summer. The petite line is offered here at Creekside Nursery in Pink and Salmon.

Proven Winners® Line Up

Creekside Nursery is proud to now carry some of the “Proven Winners®” line of shrub products. Currently being offered are the Golden Ticket Ligustrum, two colors of dwarf Buddleias and the Double Play Red Spirea. Proven Winners® tests and trials all their products for ease of care and bright colorful plants. They are attractive to pollinators and considered deer resistant. Golden Ticket Ligustrum brings a splash of color with foliage that emerges bright yellow and morphs to chartreuse. The Blue Chip Jr. and Micro Chip Pink Buddleias both are low growers and continuous bloomers. And the Double Play Red Spirea is so named because it displays a true red bloom and dark burgundy foliage in Spring.
