What's New

Delosperma

Also commonly called Ice Plant, this African native is proven to be heat and drought tolerant while providing low-growing groundcover with succulent needle-like foliage and bright pinkish-purple flowers. The foliage is covered with transparent flakes that somewhat resemble tiny pieces of ice, hence the common name. Can handle full sun and flourishes best in Zones 5-9. Delosperma are highly attractive to bees and provide an exceptional nectar sources for pollinators while bringing spots of brilliant color to open areas where other plants may not thrive.

Canna 'Australia'

This Canna is a large grower with dark maroon, almost black foliage that blooms in mid to late summer with stunning crimson red flowers. Australian Canna Lilies love hot weather and thrive when planted in full sun to partial shade. They can also be grown in large containers. Canna lilies are great pond-side plants that can tolerate moist ground as well. Growing fast, the lush foliage quickly forms a large-leaved tropical screen that can reach a mature size of 5’ tall by 2-3' wide. Performs best in Zones 7-10, but in colder zones, the rhizomes can be lifted and stored over winter to re-plant when danger of last ground freeze has passed.

Perennial Hibiscus

Perennial Hibiscus plants can add a touch of the tropics to your flowering beds or butterfly gardens. With darker leaf foliage and buds that open to huge blooms all along the stems instead of just at the top, these beauties are sure to brighten your late Spring to early Fall gardens while attracting pollinators. Remove spent blooms to encourage new buds to open. These varieties love the sunny and more moist conditions, but can thrive in drier soils as well as long as they receive regular weekly watering.

Crape Myrtle 'Pocomoke'

This deciduous flowering small shrub bears profuse crepe-like panicles of rose-pink flowers throughout summer! Features exquisite orange-red foliage color in the fall. The spectacular smooth, mottled, light cinnamon brown bark also adds year-round interest. Use for accent, background, specimen or street tree. Water regularly until established. Fertilize in spring with a well balanced fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Prune as needed in late winter. Blooms on new wood in spring through summer. Do not prune by "topping" plant.

Cuphea 'Allyson'

Also known as Mexican or False Heather, this delicate-looking but tough and durable plant with small, deep green foliage and loads of tiny pinkish-purple flowers will bloom all summer long! Can be grown as an annual in cooler climates and is great for bedding, borders, and containers in warmer climates. This plant is considered self-cleaning, so deadheading is not necessary. Cuphea Allyson will grow to be about 24 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 24 inches. This plant does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. It is also considered as drought tolerant. Hardy in Zones 9 and warmer, it may die back after hard frosts, but will re-grow from the roots.
